SUMMARY:Say NO to further delay at Broadford Bridge
DESCRIPTION:Join us to support local residents who are speaking out against UK Oil & Gas plc (UKOG)’s FOURTH attempt to delay restoring the well they drilled at Broadford Bridge. \nJoin the Facebook event \nUKOG stopped work on the site nearly six years ago. They now claim they want another two years to analyse findings from their wells at Horse Hill and Dunsfold. \nThis appears to be yet another attempt to delay spending the money needed to plug and restore the well at Broadford Bridge as required by their initial licence. Their last extension expires on March 31st. \nThe Weald Action Group and many others have urged West Sussex County Council not to let UKOG avoid their responsibilities again and risk the cost falling on the taxpayer or landowners. \nThe Planning Committee meets on Tuesday 19 March at County Hall\, Chichester PO19 1RQ\, starting at 10.30am. \nWe’ll be meeting outside County Hall from 9.40am to encourage the Committee to say NO! Bring placards and cleaning up costumes. Let’s make the Council know locals don’t want UKOG back. \nJoin the Facebook event \nCampaigners at County Hall\n

They will share their experiences of working with law firms\, the legal process\, fundraising and more. \nThey will be joined by Dr Alex Clayton from Winchester Action on Climate Change\, who are opposing an application for oil development at Avington\, near Winchester\, in the South Downs National Park. The Park refused permission for this\, but the planning inspectorate overruled this decision. \nThe event is FREE but donations are welcome

Sarah is arguing that Surrey County Council should not have permitted four new oil wells and 20 years of oil production at Horse Hill without considering the full climate impacts of the project. If the Court decides in her favour\, this will be an important precedent for all fossil fuel projects in the UK. \nFind out more about the legal challenge here: https://www.wealdactiongroup.org.uk/horse-hill-appeal \nFind out more about plans to expand oil production at Brockham here: wealdactiongroup.org.uk/brockham \n  \n
