The UK Methane Campaign is inviting organisations to sign a letter to Secretary of State Ed Miliband, urging the UK to lead with strong, enforceable methane regulations ahead of COP30.
Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, Ed Miliband has called on the UK to “double down” and “accelerate our move away from fossil fuels by reducing emissions, protecting nature and working internationally.” He confirmed that the UK will publish a National Methane Action Plan ahead of COP30.
The UK has helped lead on methane initiatives—from COP26 to the Global Methane Pledge—but to stay credible and effective, we need strong, enforceable domestic regulation that covers all oil and gas operations, sets methane intensity standards, and ensures transparent monitoring and reporting.
By signing, groups will demonstrate broad support for bold action that protects communities, safeguards health, and keeps our climate targets within reach.
