Join us for Cake at the Gate at Horndean, 6 September 2026

The Weald Action Group invites campaigners to join us for ‘Cake at the Gate’*, a relaxed get-together outside the Horndean oil site, which is the site at the centre of our legal challenge over methane pollution.

This isn’t a protest, a strategy meeting or anything too formal. Think of it more as a picnic with purpose.

We’ll meet outside the site for cake, snacks and a chat, hear a bit about why Horndean matters, what our legal challenge is trying to achieve, and we can reflect on the long campaign to challenge fossil fuel extraction across the South East. If there is appetite, we can follow with a more formal get-together nearby for an hour or so to hear what everyone is working on, share ideas, swap campaign stories and hopefully spark a few new collaborations.

Whether you’ve been campaigning for years, are involved with a local group, or simply want to meet others working on climate and environmental issues, we’d love to see you there. Your campaigning doesn’t need to be about challenging fossil fuels.

Please bring either your own picnic or items to contribute, and some cake if you’re feeling generous, along with a blanket or chair. The entrance to the site is on a public footpath with quite a bit of greenery for us to plot for a picnic. The public footpath starts from Keydell Nurseries, Havant Road, PO8 0UU

Date: Sunday 6 Sept 2026
Time: 12:30pm – 2.30pm
Meeting point: Horndean B oil site, Waterlooville PO8 0DS

We hope you can join us. The chance for some of us to meet local campaigners in person has been eluding us for a while, and we thought it was about time we put that right.

Please let us know if you can make it so we have an idea of numbers: info@wealdactiongroup.org.uk
